Michael Buble’s Christmas Album? Duck fat!

Ok, so I’m re-wrapping last years gift. Its the thought that counts though init.

Recycling bits of Jona Lewie, Burt Bacharach, Nat King Cole, Julie London, Brenda Lee, Demis Rousos, Pariah Carey, The Sunset Band, Pacman and Ronan Keating’s butchering of ‘Fairytale of New York’, amongst many more, Christmas music reaches new lows.

So, throw away your copy of Enya’s Christmas album, delete Boney M’s  ’Christmas with Boney M’ album from your music folder and let ‘Christmas Midgets’ replace ‘Phil Spectors Christmas Gift’ album as the soundtrack to your December.

Central Heating

I’ve noticed a lot of my old friends back in the UK sing the praises of central heating this week. Mean while I’ve been walking round in my jocks and soaking up some UV. Anywho…..you could read a few double entendres into this song (Fnarr) but I’m sure Peggy Lee was a nice girl.

Erm……

Whoops. I’ll attempt to sum up the last 6 months quick smart. PC to iMac.

So, heres the first thing I’ve ever made using Logic Studio. Pretty much continues where I left off I think…you be the judge.

I’ve got lots of other stuff close to completion, just need to figure out some of the finer details behind these plug ins! Stay posted, I’ll be back soon…..oh and thanks so much for visiting :)

52 Weeks – Somewhere in June

I’ve lost track of the weeks, the track numbers, my life, my hair, a sock and those grey pants I really loved. For the few of you that are keeping track, I’m sorry. 52 weeks lives on, albeit in a slightly changed form. I think this is the mid year slump I predicted way back in December.
Anyhow, so between making new stuff for TV I’ve carefully thrown together these 3 tracks. Made from bum fluff, used tea bags and shit I found in the shag pile.
Please show them love. Alternatively just delete them and pretend you were never here.

Chilled Afterhours

In another life I make original stuff for TV. Nowt flash, just your standard background type white noise. This week see’s the release of Ministry of Sounds ‘Chilled Afterhours’ compilation. Its a great mix of laid back dubstep, pop and classic chillout that also includes a track by my alter ego, Kneel Mason.

‘The Losing Love’ has featured on a few shows here in Oz and has somehow gained great support from licensing folk in the UK. Grab it here…

But wait, there’s more. A track I made way back when is scheduled to feature in new upcoming Oz drama ‘Crownies’.  Under my old team9 guise ‘Pocket and Fin’ is an instrumental ode to my 2 beautiful, brilliant but very different kids.

52 Weeks – refreshed

That was a longer break than I’d anticipated! Time seemed to slip away quite nicely and it took me a while to get the groove back. If I’m honest I’m starting to think that keeping the ideas flowing for 52 weeks is a little unrealistic. Anywho……
This weeks track samples a little Keely Smith, some Bonobo, a sprinkling of Jim Lawless and a healthy shot of tinny snare.
I’ll be back…….

Ministry of Sound set and more….

Way back when in March, Ministry of Sound asked me to put together a mix set for their chill out radio show. I struggled to get anything done until this week when FSO friends, Tim and Bong, put together separate sets and gave me a much needed kick up the arse.
So, if an hours worth of laid back sampladelica floats your boat then feel free to download, listen and delete the below set.
Also below are the links to Tim and Bongs sets – thanks again guys!

Also available are the tracks I made for the same Ministry of Sound show in 2009 mixing up chill out classics. Some people call them mash ups ;)

April – Easter Break

I’m off to New Zealand early next week so now’s probably a good time to put me feet up for a week or 3. Here’s 4 tracks I’ve managed to finish off this week. Its not quite an Easter Egg is it but it’s about all I can manage – times are hard ;)
For those of you still with me, thank you for the comments and emails. If you can help me spread the love please tell your neighbours, pets and dodgy uncles that The Found Sound Orchestra is here and ready to accept some lovin’.

Big hello to any pets that have just joined us. Feel free to download all the other tracks, and a few other albums, in the below posts.

Easter is a chocolate Jesus

As a rule I don’t really dig religion. I’ll go along with John and Yoko on that one. It fascinates me on one level and repulses me on another. Really, anything that can make a man think socks look good with sandles just ain’t my bag. However, it has inspired some of the most incredible music (and some dire crap but we’ll brush that aside for the purpose of this post). So, in keeping with my little Christmas album thing, here’s a track for Easter without any particular reference to Easter, chocolate or bunnies.

52 Weeks – Week 14 I think

I’ve spent far too much time messing around with the awesome SoundPrism app on the iPad this week and not enough time sorting this track out. Together with a work induced/caffeine infused/stress flavoured mini melt down its a wonder I’ve made anything….this might explain why it sounds a bit FSO by numbers. I might be running into a brick wall and out of ideas……fingers crossed that SoundPrism can get me out the funk….
